A New Look for the NCS Holder

NCS has updated the design of its coin holder by adding a series of new security features. To prevent tampering, the label incorporates ultraviolet watermarking, micro-printing and holographic imagery. An advanced sealing technique is also being used to fuse the holder parts together safely and cleanly. Its new label design is comprised of a white field area and a curved purple border. In addition to its upgraded appearance, this change also improves the readability of the label.

This is the most significant design change to the NCS holder since the company’s inception in 2001. All the constituent materials of the holder have been selected to assure that they provide the most stable and secure environment for the long-term storage of NCS encapsulated coins. Identical materials are used in the museum holder codeveloped by NGC and NCS for the Smithsonian Institution to house its most valuable coins. The Smithsonian conducted independent tests to confirm the fitness of these materials.

"NCS authenticated coins are playing an ever-expanding role in the numismatic marketplace, both in the US and internationally. We’re very proud to provide the finest materials and highest level of protection for coins in the NCS holder," states NCS president, David J. Camire.

The new NCS holder and label are automatically used for the encapsulation coins by NCS at all service levels. World coins and non-regular issue US coins may be encapsulated in the EdgeView® holder, which enables viewing of a coin’s edge. For more information, contact NCS Customer Service toll-free at
